31. A different sort of list this week. This one is dedicated to my sweet wife Ruth, the love of my life, who left all too soon. I will carry you in my heart for the rest of my days.
So sorry to hear about your loss. Your musical jukebox selection is a touching and lovely tribute to your wife - we/ I also grew up with many of your chosen tracks special to us and this was a nostalgic reminder of those carefree days. Keep enjoying the music and taking your wonderful photographs. Wishing you all the best.
Thank You. I am still taking some photos but have to admit, Ruth's passing has knocked the stuffing out of me. I want to get back to posting photos, but it may take some time before I am able.
John, I am so very sorry to learn this news. I'd noticed your absence on Substack, which you explained generically, so I had no idea what was going on. I'm deeply sorry for your loss of the love of your life. I will take some time this week to listen to each song on the list, but slowly, to appreciate the songs and the sentiments you've shared about Ruth, the music, and what the songs meant to you and her. A beautiful tribute in the language that we all thrive on. Take good care.
Thank You Steve for your thoughtful response. I have tried a number of times to return to My Photo Journal, but have so far not been able to commit anything to paper, err... screen. I am not going to force it as I know it will come when it is ready to come. I continue to take photos and find photography continues to be a good companion in this hour of need. I found this format of building a music list on the other hand, to be easier to deal with than writing specifically about my experiences over the past month. That piece you posted on The Big Ship came into my life at just the right moment, so thank you again for that. It is strange the things which we grab hold of when in a place of great vulnerability.
John, thank you, I’m so glad that an innocuous post of mine was helpful to you in the right moment. May you have many more experiences of support for your journey.
You’ll return to these things at the right times for you, and in the meantime they’ll wait patiently for you.
My condolences John - our thoughts are with you. Beautiful collection of songs and memories in your tribute to Ruth and the wonderful person she was - thank you for sharing.
Thank You Andy. I may see you on Nov 4 at NPC, if the invitation is still open. I have been trying to say yes to people instead of my normal default. Everything is different now.
What a wonderful tribute! No doubt this is a very brief curation of many wonderful memories you two made together. Clearly Ruth was a beautiful soul. I can't imagine how much the grief hurts, yet somehow you managed to put something joyful out into the world, in her honour. Thanks for sharing some great songs, John.
Thank you Michelle. this list has been giving me some comfort over the past few days. And yes, just a sample in keeping with my normal 10 song playlist, but quite different as well. More personal. More raw. The last two selections are mine, the rest are ones I think Ruth would have chosen herself. Music transcends so many boundaries. Perhaps she can hear them too.

Most certainly John - the invitation is open and look forward to seeing you there.

I’d like to think she can
My condolences John... a lovely tribute you've made here.
Thank You Jenni. I'm glad you liked it.
I look forward to listening to these in light of your heartbreaking loss.
